The ten ossuaries diagrammed in the Talpiot Tomb were: Jesus son of Joseph Maria Mariamene Mara Judah son of Jesus James son of Joseph brother of Jesus* Jose Uninscribed Uninscribed Uninscribed Uninscribed * This ossuary was missing on the official inventory from the IAA warehouse.
Talpiot Ossuary
In 1980, a construction crew in Talpiot, Jerusalem, accidently opened a tomb (dynamite and bulldozers will do such things). The tomb was immediately examined by the Iaraeli Antiquiies Authority. Ten ossuaries were diagrammed and then they were emptied of their bones which were buried in a hole by a rabbi.
Prof. James Tabor is a colleague and friend of Simcha Jacobovici. He is the author of the acclaimed THE JESUS DYNASTY which has a new edition with a chapter on the Jesus Tomb. Tabor was with Jacobovici and team during the exciting opening of the Talpiot Tomb.
Tabor argues for the royalty of the Jesus heritage and perhaps he may have influenced Simcha to this point of view. In any case, both seem to argue that Jesus was of Davidic royal lineage through Joseph, his father.
